🧋 Distributed Random Beacons (DRBs) are essential for aiding in the decentralization of the blockchain. They ensure fairness, security, and trustworthiness by generating random numbers in a way that no participant or coalition of participants can predict or bias the outcome. Boba Network's core contributors and others are proposing a more efficient DRB protocol using threshold cryptography, zk-SNARKs, and BLS signatures. The protocol is designed to produce pseudorandom values that are unique, publicly verifiable, unpredictable, and unbiased in a decentralized network.
